PDM weakness is no reason for govt’s continuation: Maulana Fazl

PDM often receives government flak for failing to portray a united Opposition front. However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman denies such claims. According to him, there are some other reasons behind the continuation of the “incompetent PTI regime."

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman denies claims that PTI is still in power due to PDM’s failure to oust the government. His rebuttal comes as PDM once again gears up to move against the PTI government.

According to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, there are some other reasons behind the continuation of the “incompetent” regime. He did not elaborate on the reasons, however, resolutely maintained that it is not because of PDM weakness.

“You know very well why the government is getting an extension. This government is not only illegitimate but also incomplete and is unable to deliver,” he said.

The PDM leader said the incompetence of the government became a part of Pakistan’s history.

“Had the Opposition not come out on the roads, the incompetence of the PTI government would not have been exposed,” he further added.

He made these comments on the eve of a PDM meeting which was postponed due to the death of nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and PML-N MNA Pervaiz Malik.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Aftab Khan Sherpao, Hafiz Hamdullah, Awais Noorani, and others attended the meeting.

PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Ishaq Dar also participated in the meeting via video link.

Sheikh Rasheed warns PDM

PDM often receives government flak for failing to portray a united Opposition front. The PTI government frequently accuses PDM of going through fissures within the party which apparently led to its failure. These accusations racked up ever since PPP quit PDM.

According to the PTI government, PDM failed in its anti-government agenda as PTI is still ruling. It also shows optimism in the fact that PTI will complete its term despite PDM’s attempts at ousting the government.

Furthermore, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Monday, warned PDM against any misadventure. He cautioned that the movement should be careful lest it should feel the heat of its own action.

The interior minister also showed confidence that the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan would complete its 5-year term.
