Peaceful Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s best interest: General Zubair

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Zubair Mehmood Hayat has said that a peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan. General Zubair was invited as a special guest by the World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis in London to delve on Pak-UK ties and Trump’s new South Asia policy.

Diplomacy and strategic affairs, these remarks will help Pakistan build an effective narrative at a time when it is fighting an intense battle to sell its oft-repeated version to the world

He said a stable Afghanistan is integral to the prosperity of Pakistan. He iterated Pakistan’s meritorious and militarily unprecedented successes in the war on terror. Influential British Pakistani to include Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of The House of Lords, Lord Qurban, Sajjad Karim, member EU Parliament, Syed Ibn-e-Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner, Qamar Raza, chairman World Congress for Overseas Pakistanis, were also present on the occasion.

The four-star general said that the Indian forces are indiscriminately killing innocent Kashmiris and hence it is important for the international community to take cognizance and stock of the simmering issue in the Kashmir valley.

General Hayat also said that CPEC will change the fate of the country.He has time and again spoken about the vitality of and the dangers to this project

General Hayat brings with him a wealth of experience of warfighting and military diplomacy. In a career spanning over 40 years, General Hayat has held key command, staff and instructional appointment.

The artillery officer commanded the Bahawalpur-based XX1 Corps before heading the Strategic Plans Division(SPD) where he looked after the country’s nuclear weapon program under the aegis of the National Command Authority (NCA). Before his promotion and appointment as CJCSC, General Hayat held the coveted position of Chief of General Staff (CGS) and was responsible for the overall operational and intelligence workings of the Army as the MI and MO Directorates came under his purview.
