The online encyclopedia, ‘Wikipedia’ has locked the profile page of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader, Maryam Nawaz Sharif after several attempts were made to introduce abusive edits in her profile following the ‘Avenfield verdict’.
The NAB officials have arrested Capt. Safdar while Maryam Nawaz along with her father Nawaz Sharif is due to reach Lahore from London on Friday, 13th July.
The online website has locked the page for a year. A representative of Wikipedia talking to a local news outlet stated, “This is not the first time her page has been locked. However, her page has not been locked for this long before,” he said.
He told words like ‘political criminal’ and ‘Pakistani Politician’ were added in her description and biography. “People added criminal multiple times in the lead section and tried to change her birth year from 1973 to 1960. The information present in the lead section appears in the Google knowledge graph, next to the search result.”
