Please Just Let Me Breathe’: Alizeh Shah Opens Up About Her Silent Struggle

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Alizeh Shah pleaded for privacy, asking fans and media alike to stop spreading rumours and let her heal in peace.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, actor Alizeh Shah broke her silence on the emotional and physical toll that relentless trolling and criticism have taken on her, clarifying that her message wasn’t for attention — but for peace.

“The trolling, the constant negativity, and the criticism didn’t just affect me emotionally — it’s now impacting my physical health,” she revealed.

The Ehd-e-Wafa star shared that things had escalated to the point where she felt forced to disconnect — not just from social media but from everyone around her.

‘Please just let me breathe: Alizeh Shah opens up about her silence

“It became so overwhelming that I had to isolate myself completely. I withdrew not only from Instagram but also from the people in my life.”

Describing herself as “broken, exhausted, and overwhelmed,” Alizeh expressed that mere words couldn’t convey the emotional burden she has been carrying.

Even after she changed her Instagram bio to read “I’m alive,” rumours about her well-being persisted.

“News outlets reached out to my parents to ask if I had died. Imagine the anguish that causes a family, especially a mother.”

The actor shared that the mounting stress has made her physically unwell and that she’s uncertain about returning to social media or acting.

“I honestly don’t know if or when I’ll be back on Instagram or TV. Right now, I just need space.”

Her plea was simple yet powerful: “Please stop contacting my family. Stop spreading false stories. Just let me breathe.”

Alizeh has frequently been subjected to harsh public scrutiny — whether it was over her smoking, short hair, personal boundaries on set, or her wardrobe choices.

She was also entangled in a public spat with actor Zarnish Khan, who made disparaging comments about her. Though Zarnish later apologised, Alizeh declined to accept it, stating the damage had already been done.

During a trip to the US last year, she clapped back at critics who attacked her fashion sense.

“I know being a Pakistani with a different fashion taste upsets people, but honestly, is that even my problem?” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

Alizeh, who shared the screen with Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf in Superstar, pointed out the double standards in public reactions.

“It’s fine when actresses wear a choti si choli and lehenga in films, and people enjoy that. But when we dress how we want in real life, suddenly we’re criticised? Why the hypocrisy?”

In closing, the Taqdeer star made her stance clear: she’s had enough.

“I’m a public figure, not public property. Keep your opinions to yourself — I’m done tolerating this!”

Despite often posting cheerful pictures and videos, Alizeh has regularly faced harsh comments on her social media posts.

Just last May, she was once again targeted over her clothing, prompting her to respond.

“I find memes and criticism amusing at times. But it’s sad that something so trivial trends in this country while we ignore serious global issues like Palestine. What’s wrong with us?”
