PM Imran Khan visits Rumi’s shrine, Iqbal grave in Turkey

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the mausoleum of great Muslim Sufi saint and scholar Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi on his two-day official visit to Turkey. Imran Khan is currently visiting Turkey with his team on the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Khan paid homage to the great Sufi saint and laid floral wreath on the tomb. Speaking on the occasion, PM Imran said: “we keep Rumi in great reverence, Allama Iqbal was the spiritual disciple of Rumi, Iqbal’s philosophy has been inspired by Rumi’s message of love and self-individuation.”

According to the statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan also visited the grave of sub-continents greatest poet, Allama Iqbal. Many people were surprised to know that there exists a separate grave of Sufi poet Allama Iqbal in the courtyard of Maulana Jalaluddin’s shrine.

Finance Minister Asad Umar, also shared the picture of the honorary resting place of Allama Iqbal on his official Twitter account.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan shed the light on the spiritual connection between Mevlana Rumi and Allama Iqbal. He said that Allama Iqbal was a true disciple of Mevlana Rumi.

It is actually an honorary resting place for Pakistan’s national poet. The epitaph translates ‘an honorary resting place for Muhammad Iqbal, a protege of our dear master’. Finance Minister Asad Umar, also shared the picture of the honorary resting place of Allama Iqbal on his official Twitter account.

Finance Minister Asad Umar captioned the picture “this position was given to Muhammad Iqbal. A national poet and philosopher of Pakistan, in the spiritual presence of his beloved mentor Maulana”.

The picture accompanied a caption that reads, “It was a privilege to be able to visit the Mazar of Hazrat Jalaluddin roomi in Konya. He was truly one of the greatest intellectual scholars not just of Islamic but world history. Proud as a Pakistani to see the recognition of Allama Iqbal at such a historic place”

Other than Finance Minister Asad Umar, foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Minister for Planning Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar and Advisor on Trade Abdur Razaq Dawood were also present. The prime minister will address a business forum and also hold meetings with Turkish traders and businessmen.
