Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to build a million dollar Oxford-style ‘Namal Knowledge City’ in his hometown Mianwali. ‘Namal Knowledge City’ will provide education to the downtrodden section of the society who otherwise cannot afford higher education. On Sunday Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the first academic block of Namal Knowledge City. The project is expected to complete by 2027.
According to the project details, the city will be built with a concept of zero carbon footprint; it includes academic blocks, knowledge center, sports complex, hospital, parks, technology, business centers, shopping malls, dairy farm, resorts, software houses, hotels, primary school, and teachers’ colony. The first phase of the knowledge city is estimated to cost $200 million.
PM Imran Khan built Namal University 11 years ago that has been providing quality education to the underprivileged youth. The educational institution in its early years was affiliated with the University of Bradford.
It will have a population of 11,000 with construction spread over 4 million square feet. It will accommodate 7,000 students with 600 faculty members.
A 400 Kanal Land has been acquired for the construction of Namal Medical College and Namal Teaching Hospital. Initially, a technical college has been established teaching electrical, mechanical and computer sciences. The foundation for business College has been laid two years ago while the construction of Agri-Business College is also underway.

While addressing the 6th graduation ceremony of Namal Technical College Mianwali, he said the Namal Knowledge City will create a hub of knowledge exchange and research in Mianwali.

He has been passionately serving the education sector of Pakistan even before becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He has also announced to convert Prime Minister House into a state-of-the-art university.
