Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) on 17 Feb and inaugurated the launch of the scholarship complaint portal. He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor of NUST for consistently improving the university’s quality of education, which in 2021 ranked in the top 500 universities in the world.
During the inaugural ceremony, Imran Khan started his address with a focus on the unequal distribution of scholarships post 18th amendment, and hence the main aim of the scholarship portal would be to ensure equal distribution of scholarships across all provinces.
The portal aims to develop a centralized system for all things scholarship and would ensure the dissemination of scholarships based on merit and no other criterion. The scholarship portal also seeks to establish a centralized system for scholarship-related issues and would ensure transparency during the process.

Prime Minister Imran Khan further mentioned that there was a dire need to give out scholarships in STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields in this era of reliance on a knowledge-based economy. He expressed the desire to focus more on STEM fields because they are the driving factor in any country’s economy in this day and age.
The scholarship portal would be a platform very similar to the citizen portal where students would be able to register their complaints and see timely redressal of their grievances.
Prime Minister Imran Khan noted the importance of this platform as it would take the burden of financing their education off the students and would enable them to focus on their studies.
