‘PM Khan, You are My Hero as Nelson Mandela’: Great Gary Player

The success of PM Khan’s articulate and impassioned speech at the 74th UNGA session continues to make waves globally. PM Khan celebrity fans keep popping up and they belong to every profession, be it sports or politics.

Former South African golfer and career Grand Slam Winner Gary Player on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Imran Khan and hailed him as a hero in a video message posted by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Twitter account.

In the video message, the player can be seen seated in the car with an unidentified man driving the car. The golfer extensively praised PM Khan’s leadership and seemed to be a loss of words in admiration for the former cricketer. In the video, he said he has a message for ‘Mr. Prime Minister’.

“I’ve been following your leadership now. I wish I had the words of Shakespeare or Winston Churchill to give you the credit that you deserve,” says the retired South African golfer in the video message.

“I’m so proud of you for what you’re doing for your region. May Allah be with you all the time! God bless my friend. You are my hero as Nelson Mandela was…,” said the retired golfer.

“May strength be with you! I know you’ve got many many challenges that you would need at least two years, I would imagine, to get your message across. But until then Allah-o-Akbar,” he concluded.

Acclaimed Gary Player holds the record of winning several major gold championships and was the first non-American to win all the four majors in his career, knows as Career Grand Slam. He is still regarded as one of the all-time great golf players.

His message followed the Premier Khan’s maiden exceptional speech at the 74th UNGA session, which set new records of popularity. His speech has become the highest-watched UNGA speech on YouTube. While the speech of other heads of states garnered 1.5k to 3k views on average, PM Khan’s speech achieved unprecedented popularity with 426k views.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech was uploaded twice (one in Hindi and the other in English), but it was viewed by 48 thousand and 93 thousand.
