In a first, PM Khan now bears a record in the political history of Pakistan for addressing a magnificently massive gathering of Pakistanis in a foreign land. The jubilant Pakistani expats thronged to Washington DC from every corner of the USA, as far as Canada to welcome PM Khan in the USA.
Despite soaring temperatures throughout the USA, PM Khan received a heart-warming welcome from his overseas followers.
The elated celebrities and PM Khan’s cricketing colleagues hailed a tremendous demonstration of the power of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf in Washington DC.
Prime Minister Imran Khan received a rock star’s welcome as he approached the stage along with his few cabinet members to attend the gathering at Capital One Arena. The capacity of the stadium to accommodate 20,000 people was over-stretched as thousands of supporters, according to reports, were seated in the main playing arena.
The gathering took place early Monday morning, according to Pakistan’s standard time, was live-streamed on social media by millions of Pakistanis around the world. People in Pakistan were awestruck with the massive turnout of the PTI supporters in Washington DC, as pictures floating on social media stunned netizens.
His visit to the USA became a global Twitter phenomenon, hash-tag trends of ‘PM IK Jalsa in the USA’ and ‘PM IK IN USA’ ruled the top trends on Twitter. This is inarguably is the testament of PM Khan’s immeasurable popularity among Pakistani expats, particularly due to his previous statement that Pakistani expats are close to his heart.
