PM Shehbaz receives guard of honor at Qatar’s Diwan-e-Amiri

The Amir of Qatar warmly welcomed the prime minister. Later, the Amiri guards also presented a guard of honor to the prime minister.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday was accorded a warm welcome as he arrived at the Diwan-e-Amiri to meet Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

On his arrival at the Diwan, the Amir of Qatar warmly welcomed the prime minister. Later, the Amiri guards also presented a guard of honor to the prime minister, who is here on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Qatari Amir.

Besides the meeting between the prime minister and Amir, both sides would also hold delegation-level talks to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation.

On Tuesday too, the prime minister had a busy day when he met the Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, besides addressing the Pakistan-Qatar Trade and Investment Roundtable conference.

During a meeting, the two leaders led their respective sides during the talks. They reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. They also expressed satisfaction at the growing momentum in engagement between the two countries.

The prime minister underlined the government’s keen interest in deepening and diversifying engagement with Qatar in the energy sector including renewables, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture and livestock, and tourism.

Highlighting Pakistan’s rich human resource potential, Prime Minister Sharif said he looked forward to working with the Qatari leadership in exploring more opportunities for Pakistanis who could contribute to Qatar’s development through their skill and enterprise.

He congratulated Qatar on hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 and wished the people and government of Qatar every success in the convening of the world’s largest sporting events.

Pakistan and Qatar enjoy longstanding fraternal ties, rooted deep in shared faith and values as well as close bilateral cooperation in diverse fields. The two countries also collaborate closely on regional and international issues.

Later today, he would also meet the Chairman of the Qatar Businessmen Association and the CEO of Qatar Airways to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.
