In a major development, PML-N has decided to approach the Supreme Court (SC) against the Lahore High Court’s verdict reinstating PML-Q leader Parvez Elahi as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
According to the details, the decision to challenge the LHC order was taken in a meeting held at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Model Town, Lahore residence. Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Saad Rafique, Attaullah Tarar, and others attended the meeting to discuss the LHC verdict.
PML-N leaders expressed reservations over the LHC order and decided to challenge it in the top court after completing a consultation with the legal team.

Political crisis in Punjab
Late Thursday, Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman denotified Chief Minister Parvez Elahi for not seeking the vote of confidence despite his advice.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Friday moved LHC against Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman for denotifying him as Punjab’s chief minister. Parvez Elahi filed a petition in which he appealed to the court to declare the governor’s move illegal. He argued that the Punjab Governor did not fulfill the constitutional requirement and ordered a vote of confidence during the ongoing session of the Punjab Assembly.

The LHC wanted an undertaking from Parvez Elahi that he would not dissolve the assembly as if he would resort to the move, it could deepen the ongoing political turmoil in the province.
Pervaiz Elahi wanted Lahore High Court to stop him from dissolving assembly? Many suspect that but Elahi & PTI both insist that court affidavit is a temporary set back & assemblies will be dissolved soon. No one believes them any more! https://t.co/lTujWfrQQp via @YouTube
