PML-N urges Senate to impeach President Alvi, ex-PM Imran Khan

PML-N Senator Dr. Afnanullah Khan submitted the resolution and also demanded proceedings under Article 6 of the Constitution against the president, former prime minister Imran Khan, former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri and former law minister Fawad Chaudhry.

PML-N has submitted a resolution to the Senate seeking the impeachment of Dr. President Arif Alvi, former Prime Minister Imran Khan former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri and former law minister Fawad Chaudhry.

PML-N Senator Dr. Afnanullah Khan submitted the resolution and also demanded proceedings under Article 6 of the Constitution against the president, former prime minister Imran Khan, former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri and former law minister Fawad Chaudhry.

“I have submitted a resolution in the Senate in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court. Those who have conspired against the Constitution of Pakistan should be punished under Article 6,” Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan tweeted.

To clarify, the decision comes after the Supreme Court issued a detailed verdict against the ruling of former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri. The verdict, authored by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, stated that Suri had breached his constitutional duty by dismissing the no-confidence motion.

On April 3rd, the then NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri rejected the opposition’s no-confidence motion against Imran Khan under Article 5 of the Constitution. Shortly after, former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that he advised the President to dissolve the National Assembly.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court in its short order on April 7 rejected the ruling and ordered the summoning of the National Assembly session for voting on the no-trust motion, which led to Imran Khan’s ouster.

PML-N hails SC detailed judgment

The PML-N government on Thursday hailed the Supreme Court’s detailed in the suo moto notice case on the ruling by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said it had exposed the “lies and propaganda” of the PTI chief and his government, adding it is “utterly shameful how IK tried to undermine the Constitution & manufactured the lie of “regime change”.

“Honorable Supreme Court’s detailed judgement on vote of no confidence exposes the lies and propaganda indulged in by Imran Khan and Co. Utterly shameful how Imran Khan tried to undermine the Constitution and manufactured the lie of “regime change.” The judgement is a must read for everyone,” the premier tweeted.

Similarly, the resolution submitted by the PML-N senator said, “there must be severe consequences for this blatant transgression and the law must take its course.”
