Former federal minister and younger brother of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudry Wajahat Hussain, claims that sons of Shujaat Hussain have sought dollars from Asif Ali Zardari for supporting the coalition of PDM parties against Imran Khan.
“Tariq Basheer Cheema has created rifts in our family on the behest of Asif Ali Zardari.” He told party workers from Gujraat city on Friday. He expressed regret over the current situation of the party, “It’s a scar on our family that for some temporary political incentives our scions can stoop to this low.”
Shujaat’s son, Salik Hussain is currently a federal minister while his brother Shafay Hussain is looking for some role in the provincial setup. Earlier in June both brothers met with Chief Minister Punjab, Hamza Shehbaz, and announced their complete support to the incumbent government and reassured them that their political alliance would continue in future as well.

Quoting on current situation, Shujaat Hussain asked party workers to stay united, reacting to his message, “party workers are not blind,” said Wajahat Hussain. “They can see that one (Salik) is travelling with police protocol while other (Moonis) is visiting courts to seek bail in fake cases.” He also asked party chief to withdraw his support for the government before 30th of June.
Hussain Elahi, member national assembly and son of Wajahat Hussain asked his cousin Salik Hussain “how can he (Salik) say, we honoured the promise we made with Asif Ali Zardari when we joined the coalition government led by Shehbaz Sharif, what of that promise with Imran Khan which helped you reach National Assembly in the first place.”
He also reassured his support for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi. “I am with Moonis till the last drop of my blood, and we will continue to fight against this imported government.” Sources claim that Salik Hussain and Shafay Hussain have been active recently in Gujrat and held many consultive meetings.

Pervaiz Elahi, currently speaker Punjab assembly is also PTI’s candidate form CMship in the Punjab. The political situation of Punjab is expected to change after the by elections on 20 seats vacant after ECP disqualified 20 PTI members for floor crossing. The result of by elections if in favour of PTI can prove vital for the future of PML-Q if Shujaat doesn’t announce his support for Pervaiz Elahi which will be against the line his sons took.
