PMLN unveils its Manifesto

Implicitly referring to former premier Imran Khan, Sharif stated that had he been in power instead, he would not have taken the same actions.

PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif revealed his party’s highly anticipated election manifesto on Saturday, just under two weeks before the upcoming February 8 polls. Addressing a party gathering in Lahore, he expressed that the manifesto, crafted with considerable effort, would be fully executed if the PML-N secured victory.

Implicitly referring to former premier Imran Khan, Sharif stated that had he been in power instead, he would not have taken the same actions. Reflecting on the PML-N’s past administrations, he asserted that inflation was absent during those periods.

The PML-N pledged, upon winning, to provide the public with affordable and increased electricity, promising a 20 to 30 percent reduction in power bills, a 15,000 megawatt increase in electricity production, and a 10,000MW production of solar energy to expedite development.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif outlined the manifesto’s three key points: prioritizing human resource development for youth, job creation, and support for small and medium enterprises; enhancing the agriculture sector through various incentives; and fostering national unity after years of divisive rhetoric.

Shahbaz took a dig at Opposition

Contrary to some claims, Shahbaz Sharif clarified that in 2013, Nawaz did not promise to eliminate 20-hour daily power outages but committed to addressing the issue during his five-year term, successfully ending load shedding within three years despite challenges.

Shehbaz Sharif questioned the accomplishments of the rival PPP during its 15-year rule in Sindh, criticizing the PTI government for political vendetta and its perceived lack of progress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Chairman of the Manifesto Committee, affirmed during the manifesto launch that every commitment in the document is achievable, highlighting Nawaz Sharif’s directive to avoid unrealistic promises. The delayed manifesto release was attributed to the party’s focus on comprehensive reforms, involving the formation of 32 committees to assess past performance and draft realistic commitments. Ahsan Iqbal, another PML-N leader, commented on the disparity between social media narratives and reality, taking a dig at PTI-led campaigns.
