Police arrest a young man for allegedly vandalising and attacking a Hindu temple in Karachi’s area of Narainpura. According to reports, the man damaged the statues in the Hindu Temple.
The complainant’s wife saw the man, identified as Waleed Muhammad Shabeer, attacking the idols with a hammer. Residents of the area gathered and caught the miscreant and detained him at the temple. After beating the man, they handed him over to the police who later registered an FIR against the accused.
Videos of the incident also went viral on social media. The videos show broken idols in the temple. Several activists and politicians also condemned the attack and demanded the government to arrest all the persons involved in the temple attack.

The exact motive behind the attack on the temple is unknown. Police are investigating the incident and have cordoned off the area.

As a result of the attack on the temple, the Hindu community in Karachi staged a protest outside a police station. They demanded the government provide security to the residents and claimed that they felt unsafe. The protestors also chanted slogans against the attackers. Additionally, Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs Gianchand Israni in a press statement condemned the incident.

Angry mob attacks temple in Rahim Yar Khan
Important to note, this is not the first time such an incident occurred. Back in August, an angry mob attacked a temple in Rahim Yar Khan. The mob vandalized, demolished, and even set fire on the property.
The mob was incited by a court ruling that granted bail to an 8-year-old Hindu boy in the alleged madrassa desecration.

Dr. Rameesh Vankwani, a member of the National Assembly, tweeted videos of the incident and criticized the police for negligence. Moreover, people condemned the attack and urged the Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice.
As a result, SAPM Shehbaz Gill tweeted and revealed that the Prime Minister’s office took notice of the incident and directed action against those involved in this crime.
Shortly after, the Government of Punjab confirmed the arrest of nearly 50 men in the case related to the attack on the Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan.
