Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says there is no COD (Charter of Democracy) between Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party but an agreement for concealing each other’s corruption.
Addressing a press conference along with Senator Shibli Faraz and Minister of State for Revenue Muhammad Hammad Azhar in Islamabad, the Minister said both families were running the world’s largest money laundering network and they termed this as a charter of democracy (COD). He said democracy is in “danger” if they were asked about their looted money.
Prime Minister and some cabinet members were not willing to give the responsibility of the Public Accounts Committee to Shahbaz Sharif, but to run the parliamentary system one has to take such decisions.
The Minister said all institutions are working independently in PTI government. He said Nawaz Sharif could not answer a simple question of NAB court about money trail of his assets. He said both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari have established fake companies to legalize kickbacks obtained in different projects in the country.
Fawad Chaudhry said no one is being targeted and all the cases against Asif Ali Zardari were established in 2015. All the state institutions are independent to function including NAB and FIA; the government would not pressurize any of the state institutions.
