President Trump gifts cricket bat to PM Imran

While presenting the souvenirs to Prime Minister Imran Khan, US President Donald Trump said that it was a great honor to have a “very popular, a great athlete, one of the greatest, the prime minister of Pakistan.”

US President Donald Trump presented a cricket bat along with the picture of President Eisenhower – the only US President who had watched a Test match in Pakistan – as gifts to Prime Minister Imran Khan following a meeting between them at White House.

President Trump said that it was a great honor to have a “very popular, a great athlete, one of the greatest, the prime minister of Pakistan.”

While highlighting PM Imran’s leadership, the US president said that “a lot of things are happening for the US, and I think a lot of great things are going to be happening for Pakistan too, under your leadership. I really feel that”.

PM Khan reached in Washington on Sunday on his three-day visit to the US on the invitation of President Trump.

The premier was accompanied by Adviser to PM on Commerce, Abdul Razzak Dawood, Special Assistant on Overseas, Zulfi Bukhari, and the Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was already in Washington as part of the entourage.

PM Imran gifts cricket bat to Qatar’s Emir

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who visited Pakistan in June, had received a cricket bat with PM Khan’s signature while Qatar’s Emir had gifted PM Khan a jersey emblazoned with the premier’s initials.

The Emir of Qatar paying heed to the Pakistani premier’s cricketing past brought memorabilia related to the sports which had Khan visibly pleased upon presentation.

The Qatari emir, who was visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials.

Emir Qatar’s visit was brief but it has a wider historical and futuristic context and potential for a long-term relationship.
