During the commemoration of Pakistan Day, President Asif Ali Zardari asserted on Saturday that Pakistan remains steadfast in upholding its sovereignty, emphasizing that there will be no compromises made on this fundamental aspect.
Speaking at the annual military parade held at Shakarparian Parade Ground in Islamabad, President Zardari conveyed Pakistan’s aspirations for amicable relations with all neighboring nations, reiterating the country’s commitment to peace as a peace-loving nation and a responsible nuclear power.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s preparedness to defend itself and respond to any form of aggression, President Zardari also underscored the nation’s unwavering stance against terrorism and any entities seeking to sow discord within its borders.
He hailed the parade as a symbol of unity, strength, and national pride, noting the international community’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s substantial contributions and sacrifices in combating terrorism.
President Zardari drew attention to the persistent instability in the region, attributing it to India’s unlawful occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, where Kashmiri people have long been advocating for their right to self-determination.
Expressed solidarity with Palestine
Reflecting on the challenges confronting the nation, he commended the democratic government’s establishment through electoral processes and urged collective efforts from the leadership to tackle these challenges effectively.
Expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, President Zardari urged the international community to intervene promptly to halt the senseless killings, particularly of innocent Palestinians, including women and children.
He called for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of a humanitarian corridor, pledging Pakistan’s continued support until a just resolution is achieved as per the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
