PTI conquers Khwaja Saad’s seat: “Pakistan is over and done with Sharifs”

PTI on Thursday won the by-election in Punjab Assembly constituency of PP-168, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results. The seat shows the PTI continuous improvement in electoral politics of Lahore.

As per details, PTI candidate Malik Asad Ali Khokhar won PP-168 seat, according to unofficial results by bagging 17,579 votes while PML-N nominee Rana Khalid Mehmood, managed to secure 16,892 ballots.

The polling began at 8:00 am and continued till 5:00 pm without any break. As per data of the Election Commission of Pakistan, the total number of registered voters in the constituency is 1,26,862 including 73701 male voters and 53161 female voters.

The ECP has established a total of 83 polling stations in the constituency. Special security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident. The PP-168 Lahore seat was vacated by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Khawaja Saad Rafique after being elected to the National Assembly.

The seat was vacated by PML-N senior leader and former minister for railways and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafiq after he was elected to the National Assembly from NA-131 Lahore in the October last by-polls.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) had also supported the PML-N candidate in PP-168. Acknowledging the PPP offer, PML-N MNA Pervaiz Malik had thanked the PPP leadership.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen has said that despite all the propaganda by pro-status quo forces, Lahore still chose to stand with PTI’s agenda of change.

Tareen took to Twitter to congratulate PTI’s Malik Asad Khokhar over his triumph in PP-168 by-elections, saying “Congratulations to Malik Asad Khokhar on his well-deserved win over PMLN in PP 168 by poll.”

He went on to say, “There shouldn’t be any doubt left now that Pakistan is over and done with Sharifs.”

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Khalid Mehmood has demanded vote recount after defeat in by-election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Malik Asad Ali Khokhar in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-168 Lahore on Thursday.

PMLN candidate has also demanded the returning officer to halt the notification of PTI candidate Malik Asad Ali Khokhar’s victory in constituency PP-168 Lahore.

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Khokhar won the by-polls by securing 17,579 votes and followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rana Khalid Mehmood, who could only secure 16,892 votes. The PTI supporters held fireworks display outside the office of Asad Khokhar celebrating his victory in the by-election.

While the victory was celebrated by the PTI cadres on social media. There were some who also questioned the media silence over it as earlier the media would not stop from highlighting opposition victories against the PTI.
