The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to its leader, Sher Afzal Marwat, citing violations of the party’s code of conduct and policies. The notice, issued by the PTI’s central secretariat, accuses Marwat of making irresponsible statements that have damaged the party’s reputation and interests, despite clear instructions from founder Imran Khan.
Marwat is asked to provide a written explanation within three days, detailing why disciplinary action should not be taken against him. Failure to respond satisfactorily may result in further action in accordance with party rules.

Marwat, known for his controversial remarks, has faced opposition from several party members, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz. Previously, Marwat was removed from PTI’s core and political committees on Khan’s orders, with Ayub stating that Marwat’s actions risked harming Khan’s personal relations, particularly with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
Additionally, PTI nominated Sheikh Waqas Akram to replace Marwat as the chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

On May 9, Ayub said the PTI expelled Marwat from it’s core and political committees on the directives of Khan. He said that the politician was warned time and again against violating the party’s policies.
“The PTI founder said Marwat tried to damage his personal relations with the kingdom [of Saudi Arabia] as he has excellent ties with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman,” Ayub said.
