PTI Pursues Legal Action Against Rana Sanaullah for Death Threats to Imran Khan

In recent interviews with local TV channels, Sanaullah, who previously held a prominent security position in the PML-N government, reportedly referred to Khan's political presence as a "problem."

The leadership of PTI’s Karachi chapter has approached the Sir Syed Town Police Station to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Rana Sanaullah, a senior leader of the ruling PML-N, alleging that he issued “death threats” to former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In recent interviews with local TV channels, Sanaullah, who previously held a prominent security position in the PML-N government, reportedly referred to Khan’s political presence as a “problem.” PTI interprets these remarks as a call for Khan’s assassination. Sanaullah, however, clarified that he was discussing Khan’s “political existence” and did not threaten his life.

According to a PTI spokesperson, Tehmas Ali, Vice President of PTI’s Karachi chapter, submitted an application to the Sir Syed police station seeking an FIR against Sanaullah for alleged death threats against Khan during a TV appearance.

However, police officials stated that they couldn’t accept the application as the matter fell outside their jurisdiction, directing PTI leaders to pursue the issue through the appropriate channels.

In response, PTI leader Raoof Hasan announced at a press conference in Islamabad that their party’s core committee had decided to pursue legal action against PML-N leaders Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb for threatening the former prime minister. Despite an initial attempt to file a case against Sanaullah, Hasan claimed that the police refused to register it.

He further stated that they would approach all relevant police stations to file cases and would turn to the courts if necessary, expressing frustration over the slow progress of legal proceedings against Khan. Additionally, he appealed to the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court to distance himself from cases involving the PTI founder, citing concerns about impartiality.
