PTI has demanded the details of Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s security expenditure from the Interior Ministry after the Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) claimed that providing Imran Khan with security was costing the government a hefty amount of money.
To clarify, IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir informed the Senate Committee on Interior that 266 security personnel had been deputed for the security of the PTI chairman, which was costing the government Rs. 20 million per month.
The IGP told the Senate committee on Interior that the Frontier Constabulary, Rangers, Islamabad Police, KP police, and GB police, personnel from two private security companies were also performing security responsibilities of the former premier.

Needless to say, the notion that the government is spending Rs. 20 million on Imran Khan’s security did not go unnoticed by PML-N leaders who criticized the PTI Chairman.
“The news of the amount of money Pakistan is wasting on security for ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan is disturbing and shameful with the devastating situation in Pakistan right now. Many families in need can be fed with this money. How can the government think this is appropriate,” Chaudhry Mubeen Gujjar, Vice President of PML-N’s Spain chapter, tweeted.

Government’s responsibility to provide security: Fawad Chaudhry
As a result, PTI hit back and demanded the details of Imran Khan’s security expenditure from the PML-N-led government. In a statement, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry noted that it was the government’s primary responsibility to provide security to Imran Khan.
Fawad Chaudhry also criticized the Sharif brothers and Zardari family for ‘using state resources for glory’, claiming that the Sharif brothers have lavished billions on themselves under security.

Pertinent to mention that PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan faces death threats. Even the IGP Islamabad admitted there were reports of threats to ex-prime minister Imran Khan’s life.
Moreover, PTI has, on several occasions, claimed that the incumbent government has taken back Imran Khan’s security despite his life being in danger.
