PTI leader Hammad Azhar resigns from his party position. Azhar was leading the party in Punjab. However, he has been hiding out to possibly evade arrests like key PTI leaders.
He currently holds the position of Secretary General and Acting PTI President in Punjab. On Wednesday evening, Hammad Azhar released the message of resigning on X-formerly known as Twitter.
In a tweet he said:”After much deliberation, I have decided to resign from the post of President and General Secretary of Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab. I think that for the effective leadership of the party in Punjab at this time, it is necessary to be present on the ground and have direct access to Quaid Imran Khan. However, I will continue to work as a worker.”
His resignation came as a shock to followers and supporters of PTI. He is being hailed massively by the young supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf.
Hammad Azhar had not contested elections instead his father Mian Azhar had to contest in his place from the National Assembly constituency, who subsequently won the election.
Party followers particularly the young supporters have urged him to take back his resignation as they want him to lead the party at this difficult time.
Abuzar Salman Niazi, lawyer and member of Core Committee of PTI said, “Not accepted as far as my vote is concerned. I will vote against acceptance in Core Commitee. U and Murad Saeed are the face of PTI. Both of you inspired many young individuals including me to join PTI.”
