Incarcerated PTI activist Tayyaba Raja is finally released on bail and reaches home after spending nine months in captivity.
She was arrested in the Jinnah House arson case attack in Lahore and was put in Kot Lakhpat jail along with other jailed PTI leaders and activists. Ms Raja was released by the two-member bench of Lahore High Court.
She was released on the apparent lack of evidence regarding her involvement in the incident. Her release has been hailed on social media by the followers of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf. The activists and followers of the former ruling party had been calling for her release for months, terming her imprisonment ‘illegal’.
Interestingly her release came a day after a documentary by an international media outlet, Al Jazeera, featuring her detention was published online. The documentary featured her father who cried over her detention and pleaded for her release.

During the course of her imprisonment, she was released and arrested multiple times by the police. She was immediately arrested from the courtroom by the Police soon after her release. This was a recurrent practice for nine months.
Now, PTI fans and followers eagerly await the release of other jailed women activists including former parliamentarian Aliya Hamza, Sanam Javed, and a few others.
Aliya Hamza contested from Lahore against Hamza Shehbaz but lost the election. She is still in jail and her family claims she has been defeated through rigging.
