Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz reached Beijing, China on Monday on an eight-day visit. The Directorate General of Public Relations of the provincial government said in a press release.
The official engagements of the chief minister in China would commence on Monday (today), the press release said, adding that during the visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz would pay visit to hospitals, schools, and other institutions.
Azma Bokhari, Pervez Rasheed, and Marriyum Aurangzeb are part of the delegation visiting China.
“Six senior officials of the Communist Party of China were present at the airport to warmly welcome her. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and his wife also welcomed her at the airport. A high-level delegation of the Communist Party of China called on CM Punjab,” the press release said.

“Pak-China friendship is moving towards greater heights. We want to take Punjab to economic and financial heights with the cooperation of China,” Maryam told the delegation. “On behalf of the Punjab government and the people of Punjab, I would like to extend my gratitude to the people of China.”
Provincial minister Ashiq Kirmani is also part of the delegation. On December 7th, 2024 before leaving for China Maryam Nawaz informed me about her visit to China.
“Heading to China tomorrow Insha’Allah to further strengthen the enduring bond between China and Pakistan. This visit focuses on advancing modern infrastructure, enhancing healthcare systems, improving education, fostering clean energy initiatives, promoting IT investments, and addressing smog mitigation. Looking forward to an enlightening visit to a miracle of a country,” said Maryam Nawaz in a tweet.
Her party, PMLN hails it as a historic and landmark visit as Maryam Nawaz is the first female chief minister in Pakistan to visit China. She traveled to China on Pakistan Air Force’s aircraft. Party members of Communist Party of China welcome Maryam Nawaz on the airport.
