Punjab’s Dr. Yasmin Rashid announces to donate organs after death

Inspired by brave parents of a terminally ill child who decided to donate their child's organs, Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid announced that she will also donate her organs after death. Rashid said that saving a life is like saving entire humanity.

Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid has announced to donate her organs after her death. She announced on Tuesday. Rashid said that saving a life is like saving entire humanity.

“I am announcing to donate all my medically-fit organs after death,” ARY News quoted her as saying. She announced while addressing the press conference at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute. Parents of the child at the institute had announced to donate his organs.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that parents announcing to donate the organs of their child is a difficult moment as the child stays on a ventilator counting his last breaths.

“This is for the first time that parents have donated the organs of their child on a deathbed,” Dr Yasmin Rashid said. She appreciated the institute where 70% of the transplants are free of cost. She also lauded the courage of the people who donated organs.

PKLI to provide bone-marrow transplant

“We have so far performed 140 liver transplants, 231 kidney transplants and 58,000 dialyses in a year at PKLI,” she said. The minister further informed that the bone-marrow transplant facility will begin from next year.

She expressed displeasure over how the hospitals were run previously. Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that now the hospitals are run according to their true spirit to serve the masses.

Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan was in Lahore for the pre-launch of the country’s largest humanitarian project, the Sehat Insaf Card. Initially launched in KP first, PM Khan is getting ready to launch the card in Punjab as well.

According to details, families with the Sehat Insaf card can avail free medical facilities of upto Rs 7,20,000 per person. The card will also provide transportation from resident to hospital and vice versa. Importantly, the card can be used in 300 government and private hospitals.
