Netherland’s Queen Maxima arrived in Pakistan on Monday as part of her three-day visit to the country. She landed at Nur Khan Air Base, Rawalpindi, where she was received by senior officials of Foreign Ministry and the representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands.

The Netherlands’ Queen Maxima will stay in Pakistan from November 25th to 27th. Queen Maxima serves as a special advocate of the UN Secretary-General for Inclusive Finance for Development. Inclusive Financial Development is the foremost agenda of the government for which Pakistan has been making numerous efforts in recent years.

On her trip to Pakistan, she will be discussing the prospects of enabling Pakistan’s access to financial service for the betterment of the economy. Pakistan Embassy, The Hague, Netherland issued the statement intimating her arrival to Pakistan. Queen of Netherland will be on a visit to Pakistan following the invitation extended to her from Pakistan.
A score of formal meeting for Queen Maxima are lined up during her three-day visit to Pakistan. Her stay includes meeting up with the international development partners. Governor State Bank Reza Baqar, Advisor to PM on finance Dr, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh will be meeting Queen Maxima of Netherland.

She will hold a meeting with Chairman of National Database and Registration Authority Usman Mubin. President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan will also hold a formal meeting with Queen Maxima.

Queen Maxima is scheduled to grace the launching of the “Micropayments Gateway” an initiative of State Bank of Pakistan. Queen Maxima will review the progress of the project initiated under the CEO Partnership for Economic Inclusion (CEOP).
The gateway is aimed to diminish the cost of small payments and to promote digital transactions to help people and promote financial inclusion.

She will also visit Lahore where she will head on to assess a multitude of digital financial projects commenced for the facilitation of entrepreneurs. She last visited Pakistan in February 2016.
Queen Maxima has been serving as the UN special advocate since 2009. She is tasked to ensure financial services are available to all including the low-income group, and small and medium-sized businesses particularly. She is actively working for the financial assistance and social and economic development of the downtrodden section of the society.

Recently, Britain’s royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William garnered a warm welcome on Pakistan. It is anticipated that Queen Maxima’s visit to Pakistan will be beneficial for Pakistan.
