Rehman Malik expresses security polling concerns for politicians following recent blasts

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s member and leader stated that a foolproof security should be provided to candidates during the election campaign, at the hands Election Commission of Pakistan.

Urging the nation to fight in unity against the growing acts of terrorism in Pakistan, he declared his intentions of eliminating all wrongdoers, as his main goal.

He stressed how this was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Rehman Malik was appointed for being the Focal Senator by Senate of Pakistan, in regard to the security of the general elections. This was called on by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza in his office in order to exchange views and briefing on the steps and initiatives essential for the protection of the participants during elections and campaigns for elections.

Senator Rehman Malik aimed at discussing the security polling system, in a meeting, Thursday 19th of July. He said that NECTA too has previously had been briefed about the security threats to heads of parties and political leaders.

Rehman stated that Senate of Pakistan and standing committee of Interior Ministry intended to extend its full cooperation immediately to hold a free and fair election. Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (Retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza applauded the commencement of cooperation on part of the parliament.

While conversing with media, Senator Rehman Malik, discussed the security plans and arrangements required to provide security to the contestants and the general public during elections. He said that the Senate of Pakistan is worried following the recent bomb blasts and martyrdoms of many innocent individuals. Furthermore, added that since the last month, Senate of Pakistan has taken up the issues of protection of voters, candidates and election commission’s staff.

Minimizing the odds of rigging, Rehman Malik reiterated that the Election Commission had done well, as far as their preparations were concerned.

And that it was an unfortunate event that election campaigns had not been peaceful beforehand, which led to us witnessing incidents that took place with Haroon Balour, Siraj Raisani and hundreds of other martyrs.

In continuation, he added how, requests had been made to the Ministry of Defense, for briefings in a meeting scheduled for tomorrow. In this meeting, the agenda would be to counter strategies against the active terrorists which have started striking again, recently.

Expressing concerns, a point of view was shared about Pakistan being in a state of the war-like situation, and in order to end terrorism, an annihilation of Daish had to be underway.

In his statements he mentioned, holding India responsible for the unraveling terrorist activities in Pakistan on the basis of India’s prior declaration of teaching Pakistan a lesson.

And that the repeated threats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, in reference to Haroon Bilour, marked the third sacrifice from a single family. On a lighter note, his other requests included encouraging the political leaders to engage themselves in a civil language and to refrain from cussing and swearing episodes breaking out from time and time.
