Reminisce to Britain’s glorious revolution: Dr. Moeed Pirzada reacts on PTI’s victory

People coming back at D-chowk to celebrate last night verdict, where they were subjected to torture by regime just two months ago is a symbolic and literal victory of democracy in the country.

“Since Zial ul Haq’s martial law of 1977, for the first time the nation of Pakistan has actually challenged the powers to be and status quo to restore democracy in the country. In the past few months, Pakistan has witnessed a peaceful revolution similar to the glorious revolution of Britain in the seventeenth century.

The entire Pakistan in general and Punjab in particular has risen up to bring democracy in the country. Punjab emerged as the symbol of resistance on 17 July elections which eventually brought an end to the domination of Sharifs in the province.”

Dr. Moeed was covering the PTI’s celebration at D-chowk, the same point where thousands of tear gas shells were fired at PTI’s workers. Hundreds of PTI workers gathered at D-chowk last night after Supreme Court declared ruling of Punjab Assembly’s deputy speaker illegal.

“This is the beginning of another struggle to ensure the provision of constitutional rights to the people of Pakistan. The last night success has created a hope that general election will be held in October or in the early November this year.

Parvez Elahi has a relation of confidence with the establishment. He also has a reputation of marinating good relations with the other political parties of Pakistan. He can convince other parties for general elections to get the country out of economic and political uncertainty.

People’s resistance against the state machinery in by-elections of Punjab brought one of the biggest political and democratic change in the country. Imran Khan and his party stood firm against a large combination of enemies inside and outside the country and proved that with enough people’s support every power and authority can be brought down.

Imran saved his party workers in actual terms when he ended his long march on May 26. He visualized a possible confrontation at D-chowk between party workers and security forces which would have provided an opportunity to the Sharif and Zardari led coalition to crack down against the party and its leadership.

Regime’s intentions were at full display on 23, 24 and 25 May when Punjab Police conducted about 4140 raids in the province. The sanctity of chaadar & chaardewari was breached by the law enforcement agencies on behest of provincial and federal government.”
