Rescue efforts underway for lady doctor who drowned at Karachi’s sea view

Police said that the young woman may have allegedly committed suicide. However, a further investigation into the case is underway to confirm whether it is a case of death by suicide or something else.

A rescue operation was underway on Saturday (today) to search for a 22-year-old female doctor who authorities fear had drowned at Karachi’s Sea view. The search was stopped last night as it was too dark but resumed today.

According to the details in the media, Police said that the young woman, named Sara Malik, may have allegedly committed suicide at Karachi’s sea view due to unknown reasons. However, a further investigation into Karachi’s sea view drowning case is underway to confirm whether it is a case of death by suicide or something else.

The incident came to light after her bag with identification documents was found near Do Darya’s spot. After getting information, the police team reached Sea view beach and started an investigation into the mysterious incident. Edhi ambulances reached the site and a search operation was also launched by a team of Edhi Naval Services to look for the woman.

Suicide?

As per the initial investigation, the police officials reported that the victim was identified as the daughter of Abrar Ahmed and a resident of Azam Basti, Mahmoodabad. She works at an animal hospital while further investigation is underway.

Upon contacting her father, it was learned that her father is a retired police head constable. He said that Sara Malik completed her house job and he had no clue why she took such a step.

On the other hand, the girl’s uncle says that the victim was a very sensible girl, she could not commit suicide. He expressed disappointment over the police performance. He said that if the police investigate properly, the real facts could come out.

In July, four people drowned at Karachi’s Hawkesbay beach. A month later, a car with a family of six was swept away at the city’s Malir River during torrential rains.
