In early 2019, Pakistani businessman Mian Mansha’s automobile company “Hyundai Nishat Motors” launched the car “Santa Fe” in the premium SUV segment in Pakistan.
Santa Fe was internationally launched in the 2000’s and since then has been a valuable part of Hyundai’s portfolio. Currently, its fourth generation is being manufactured and shipped globally.

Hyundai Nishat is selling the same generation in Pakistan. Initially, the car will be a CBU (Completely Built Unit), however, the company has plans for a phased localisation of the car.
Interior and exterior of the Santa Fe
The car boasts an impressive exterior and is large in size. The aggressive look of the car adds to its attractiveness and appeal. Needless to say, the car has an impressive on-road presence. The car measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,705 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2765 mm.

The interior of the car comes with may customizable options which include different leather quilting, one-tone and two-toned colors and a variety of different leather shades. The interior also boasts the following features:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel
- 60/40-split second-row fold-flat seats with recline
- LED interior lights
- Power windows and door locks
Price and specifications
Hyundai has launched the car with a 2.4L petrol engine and is available in only one variant – an all-wheel-drive (AWD) with a 6-speed transmission.
The car comes with a hefty price tag of Rs. 18.5 million. It comes with an impressive 4 year or 100,000 KM warranty and is available in 5 different colors. The base price of the car in USA starts from $ 26,000; the price tag increases as more options are added. In UK, the price retails in the range of £35,000.
It is expected to compete with the likes of many imported and local cars including Toyota Land Cruiser and Prado, Toyota Fortuner, Lexus and Audi Q6. The addition of this car to the Pakistani market will only help increase competition between car manufacturers – with the consumer benefitting the most.

Hyundai-Nishat Motors is a joint venture between the Korean car brand Hyundai and Pakistani conglomerate Nishat Group. It entered the Pakistani market after the unveiling of the auto-policy 2016-21.
The group has already unveiled its commercial truck and an MPV (Multi-purpose vehicle) with a plan to release more models in the future.
