Royal Wedding preparation in full spin as Queen gives official consent

Queen Elizabeth has given her formal consent for the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In a letter to Privy Council, she expressed her formal consent with her signatures for the wedding of her beloved grandson Prince Harry.

According to the Royal customs, the first six people in the line of succession must have Monarch’s permission before getting married. The custom is practiced since the 18th century.

It read: ‘I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.’

Should Prince Harry have married Meghan without Monarch’s permission, his descendants would be banned from ever ascending to the throne. After the introduction of Crown Act 2013, Prince Harry is fifth in succession after Princess Charlotte. The act has abolished sex as the determining factor in the line of succession.

According to the Royal Wedding Act 1772, all the descendants of George II must seek sovereign permission before getting married.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: ‘Her Majesty finally gave consent to the marriage of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle under the Succession to the Crown Act by making a declaration at the meeting of the Privy Council on March 14, 2018.’

Meanwhile, the Royal couple is busy these days appearing at various social gatherings. Former actress Meghan Markle’s dresses do turn heads whenever she appeared with her fiancé Prince Harry at social gatherings.

For her first nine official events as Royal-to-be, she was worn over $28,000 worth of clothes and that does not include her $78,000 Ralph and Russo dress she wore at her engagement.

As per the royal code of conduct, royals do not accept dresses for free and that the royal family will only pay for her wardrobe after her wedding on May 19th, 2018. Hence Meghan Markel and Prince Harry are currently paying for her wardrobe.

Both Meghan and Prince Harry are wealthy in their own rights. Meghan Markle earned $50,000 per episode by the end of her time on Suits. Prince Harry’s wealth is estimated to be around $25 million.

Where does the expense for the extravagant clothing comes from?

After her wedding, the expenses for all of her clothing for official outings will be covered by the money that Prince Charles gives to Prince William, Kate, and Harry from his Duchy of Cornwall income of about $28 million. The three, last year, spent $4.8 million on their public lives.

Meghan Markle was recently baptized!

Ahead of her wedding, Meghan Markle was baptized at the Archbishop of Canterbury, the spiritual head of the Church of England in a secret ceremony at St. James Palace in London. The actress then became a member of the Church of England following a 45-minute ceremony conducted by Justin Welby.

Meghan Markle chose to be baptized and become Anglican in a bid to honor’s Queen’s decision. Queen Elizabeth is the head of the Church of England. Meghan Markle was identified as Protestant and attended a Catholic school. Meghan Markle divorced her husband in 2013.

Meghan Markle’s bridal shower

Last week Meghan Markle took time off from her wedding preparations to celebrate her spa-themed bridal shower. The event was a low-key affair with her closest friends from US and confidants present at Soho farmhouse at Oxfordshire, outside London. Soho Farmhouse, in the English countryside, has a special place in Markle’s heart. Not only have she and Harry spent quiet private weekends there away from the long lens of the paparazzi, she’s also previously enjoyed girls’ trips there.

The marriage of Prince Harry and Markle will take place in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle at 12 pm. The expenses of the royal event including the service, music, flowers, decorations and reception, will be paid for by the royal family.

Who will be the designer for the wedding dress?

While it is unlikely that the name will be revealed until Markle arrives at St George’s chapel in Windsor on May 19th, designers Roland Mouret and Ralph & Russo’s Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo, have emerged as the most talked-about contenders for the dream job of designing Markle’s gown.
