Ryan Reynolds recounts humorous anecdote of being ‘sued’ by Taylor Swift

Despite the playful banter, Reynolds emphasized that there was no actual legal trouble and that he and Swift share a close bond.

During a recent interview at SiriusXM’s Town Hall in New York on July 19, actor Ryan Reynolds shared an amusing story about an incident involving Taylor Swift and her beloved cats. Known for his quick wit and playful nature, Reynolds recounted the time he used images of Swift’s cats, Meredith and Olivia, on a T-shirt for his character in the 2018 film “Deadpool 2.”

Cat Shirt Controversy

Reynolds, promoting his upcoming film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” revealed to radio host Jess Cagle that he had custom T-shirts made featuring Swift’s cats. When asked if he had sought permission from Swift, Reynolds humorously responded, “No, I was sued. I lost everything in that one.” He elaborated on the faux legal ordeal, saying, “And getting sued by a friend is tough to swallow. Also, she has just a lot of very, very powerful lawyers. I found out later those are just the paralegals. The real lawyers didn’t even bother with it.”

Playful Relationship

Despite the playful banter, Reynolds emphasized that there was no actual legal trouble and that he and Swift share a close bond. Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have been long-time friends of Swift. The couple, married since 2012, most recently attended one of Swift’s concerts in Madrid in May. Videos from the event captured Reynolds and Lively enjoying the performance, dancing along to Swift’s songs with their daughters, Betty, 4, Inez, 7, and James, 9.

Admiration for Swift

Reynolds has often expressed his admiration for Swift’s talent. In previous interviews, he has mentioned his family’s collective fondness for her music.
