Sabrina Carpenter hits No. 1 on Billboard 200 with ‘Short n’ Sweet’

Carpenter’s achievement came in a closely contested battle with rapper Travis Scott’s re-released mixtape, Days Before Rodeo.

Sabrina Carpenter has achieved a major career milestone, as her latest album, Short n’ Sweet, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking her first-ever chart-topping release. The album, which dropped on August 23, quickly garnered significant attention and sales, leading to a remarkable achievement for the 25-year-old pop star.

Stellar Debut for ‘Short n’ Sweet’

According to Billboard, Short n’ Sweet earned 362,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its opening week, making it the third-highest debut of 2024. The album features 12 tracks, all of which have made their way onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with the singles “Taste,” “Please Please Please,” and “Espresso” landing in the top five. This success positions Carpenter among an elite group of female artists, joining Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande as the only women to chart at least three songs in the Hot 100’s top five simultaneously.

In a heartfelt social media post, Carpenter expressed her gratitude to her fans, saying, “My first #1 album!!!! thank you for listening to Short n’ Sweet. thank you for believing in me all these years! couldn’t do any of this without you 💋:’) this feels really special.”

Historic Feat on the Hot 100

Not only did Short n’ Sweet top the Billboard 200, but Carpenter also made history on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Three of her tracks from the album—”Taste,” “Please Please Please,” and “Espresso”—claimed spots in the top five. This remarkable achievement places her in the company of The Beatles, who first reached this milestone in 1964 with their songs “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” and “Please Please Me.”

Carpenter becomes only the second artist ever, after The Beatles, to have her first three top-five hits on the Hot 100 simultaneously, a feat that highlights her growing influence in the music industry.

Scott’s album debuted at No. 2 with 361,000 equivalent album units, narrowly missing the top spot. Despite the tight race, Carpenter emerged victorious, adding a new chapter to her career with her first No. 1 album.
