Sajal Aly is not the only actor who has called out the current government for petrol price hikes and inflation. She and other celebrities including citizens have been calling out the government for a massive hike in petrol prices. Fuel prices were again raised from July 1ST.  Fuel prices in Pakistan were raised as a result of the planned implementation of a petroleum levy and sales tax on July 1, 2022. The National Assembly passed the Finance Bill 2022 on Wednesday, allowing the government to levy a petroleum levy of up to Rs50 per liter on petroleum products.

Petroleum prices were raised by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s new government on May 26, 2022, June 2, 2022, and June 15, 2022. In total, the government raised the price of petrol by 84 per liter in these price increases.
