Sanju smashes box-office records in India with 145.41 crore

The Ranbir Kapoor movie “Sanju” continues to make massive collections on the box-office on the fourth day of its release. On Monday the movie garnered profits of Rs.25.35 crore out of total profits of Rs. 145.41crore in just four days.

Being the first day of the week, the massive collection on Monday has been impressive. It is said to be the highest collection for any movie on a non-holiday day. ‘Sanju’ has already been acclaimed the highest- grossing movie on its opening day in the history of Bollywood.

Sanju has broken records of Salman Khan’s Race 3, Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 2′ and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat. The film critic Taran Adarsh in his tweet shared the details of big margins with which ‘Sanju’ has toppled best-seller movies of the Bollywood in the ongoing year.

Sanju collected Rs.34.75 crore on its opening day compared to Race 3’s Rs.29.17 crore, Baaghi 2’s Rs.25.10 crore, Padmaavat’s Rs 19 crore and Veere Di Wedding’s Rs.10 crore.

‘Sanju’ has given Ranbir Kapoor a much-needed opportunity to bounce back on the cinema screens. He was missing the limelight in the film fraternity since the debacle of his previous release ‘Jagga Jasoos’ which failed to impress the audiences. The Sanjay Dutt biopic movie ‘Sanju’ is anticipated to be the best movie of his entire career.

His popular movies Besharam-Rs 21.56 crore, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani-Rs.19.45 crore, Tamasha-Rs.10.94 crore and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil-Rs 13.30 crore had modest first-day earnings when compared with staggering profits of “Sanju’.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor’s phenomenal performance in ‘Sanju’, the positive feedback from the film critics and ‘word of mouth’ from audiences have played its role in the success of Sanju. The following top movies of the year, Race 3 and Padmaavat, however, benefitted from Eid holidays and the hike in prices of tickets respectively.

Sanju has garnered massive box-office collection in Pakistan as well. As per the unofficial data the movie has collected Rs.9.5 crore from Pakistan on its opening weekend. The movie is performing good in Pakistan as the cinema owners said, that extra show had to be added to meet the high demands of the ticket.
