International Cricket Council (ICC) includes former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed among the event ambassadors for Champions Trophy 2025.
Ahmed joins Shikar Dhawan, Shane Watson, and Tim Southee as the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 ambassador. Interestingly, Sarfaraz Ahmed is the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning captain. Meanwhile, other ambassadors, Shikar Dhawan (India), Tim Southree (New Zealand), and Shane Watson (Australia) have all played in the last Champions Trophy.
The ambassadors, all former Champions Trophy participants, will provide fans with exclusive insights through guest columns, match attendance, and personal reflections throughout the competition.
Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed his excitement regarding his inclusion in the panel. He recalled his experience of winning the trophy for Pakistan. He said “I will never forget how special it felt to wear the white jacket and lift the trophy as Pakistan’s captain. Seeing the nation celebrate that success with us will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m thrilled to see this tournament return and to witness my country host such a significant event.”
Shikar Dhawan stated the high stakes of the tournament and said “One mistake could end a team’s chances, making it a thrilling event.”
Tim Southee, one of New Zealand’s finest fast bowlers, highlighted the tournament’s competitive nature. “As a player, you realize that every game, every ball, and every moment is crucial in the Champions Trophy,” he said.
