State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a commemorative Rs.75 note on the Diamond jubilee of Independence of Pakistan. The banknote was revealed on Sunday 14th August 2022.
State Bank of Pakistan also released a video message on its official Twitter account. The video showed the green-colored bank note. According to the SBP, the bank note will be available for public issuance by September 30th. The banknote has the portrait of the founding father of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Mother of the Nation Fatima Jinnah, legendary poet Allama Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, on the front side.
The back side of the note features Pakistan’s national animal Markhor that gives the message of the importance of environmental sustainability in Pakistan. The vignette on the back side of the note also features a Deodar tree. The back side of the note has been designed by young artist Ms. Sara Khan. The inclusion of national emblems on the bank note stresses the importance of working on mitigating climate change in the country. Pakistan is among the six most vulnerable countries affected by climate change.

“The design includes images of national animal and tree, Markhor and Deodar, respectively, which highlights the importance of saving our environment and Pakistan’s unique Fauna and Flora. The design provided by Ms. Sara Khan was selected by the State Bank of Pakistan as an inspirational outline for the vignettes on the reverse side of the commemorative banknote,” said SBP in its statement.

“Pakistan is one of the most affected countries by climate change. As such protection of bio-diversity and forest cover are of vital importance, the inclusion of Markhor and Deodar Tree, both of which are national symbols, on the reverse of the banknote highlights the country’s commitment towards combating climate change,” the statement read further.
