Punjab government has signed a contract with State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan for the implementation of Sehat Sahulat Program in all districts, Radio Pakistan reported. Through this program, the Punjab government will provide Sehat Insaf Cards to around 6 million families of the province.
Also, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the launch of Sehat Insaf Card (SIC) programme for southern Punjab districts. It has been decided to introduce Sehat Insaf Card in Rajanpur district during the third week of this month.
The initiative was first launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2016. “We gave Sehat cards to more than half of the households that were living below the poverty line in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP),” the PM told the gathering.
In this regard, the chief minister has said people of Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Muzaffargarh districts will also be issued Sehat Insaf Card (SIC) to facilitate them on their doorsteps. Every family would spend up to Rs 7.20 lakh on free medical facilities while the expenditure will be borne out by the government.
The government has provided the facility of treatment of all the diseases through this card and the expenditures of transportation from residence to hospital and vice versa will also be given.
He said Sehat Insaf Card is a great gift for the people of Punjab as people are being provided best healthcare facilities by the PTI government. Marked improvement has been ensured in the health sector. We will fulfill every promise made with the people and no one will be deprived of the best healthcare facilities, he added.

Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid and Secretary Specialized Health and Medical Education called on Usman Buzdar at his office and apprised him about the salient features of Sehat Insaf Card.
PM Khan launched Sehat Insaaf Card
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan has launched a medical facilitation card coined Sehat Insaf card for the needy and underprivileged. Addressing the launch ceremony in Islamabad on Monday, the 4th of February, the Prime Minister had said that every needy family could avail free treatment up to over Rs0.7 million in 150 government and private hospitals under this programme. He said that the poor have to sell all their belongings for medical treatment. The cards will also be distributed in tribal areas, he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said each cardholder will also be provided transport charges of one thousand rupees on every visit to the hospital.

The initiative was first launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2016. “We gave Sehat cards to more than half of the households that were living below the poverty line in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP),” the PM told the gathering. “To launch the project countrywide, it took us some time but it is better late than never. The Sehat Sahulat Program will benefit approximately 1.5 crore people currently living below the poverty line”, PM Khan further said.
