Pop star Selena Gomez is one of the most recognizable faces in the world. While a lot of that is because of her success as a singer and actress, Gomez has also become well known for being the Queen of Instagram. With over 141.5 million followers, the 26 year old “Good for You” songstress is the most followed person in the world, on Instagram. And while that fact has been known for some time, recently a huge new revelation came to light.
Maxim has reported that Gomez earns a whopping $3.5 million from every Instagram post she does for the sports brand Puma of which she’s the ambassador. “In dollars, that means some of Selena’s posts equated to nearly $3.5 million in Media Impact Value per post, whereas Puma’s best-performing one only reached $195K,” said Alison Bringé, chief marketing officer of Footwear News, according to Page Six.
Puma’s Instagram page only reaches 8.2 million followers whereas Gomez has three times that number. It’s no surprise that huge brands are now courting the social media star. One of these is Coach which established a relationship with the star in 2016 and the success of Gomez’s social media (called “the Gomez effect” by Wall Street Journal) left even the fashion brand surprised.

Their $10 million deal with the singer in 2016 proved to be very lucrative as Gomez (who is the brand’s ambassador and also guest designer) helped boost the company to new heights. According to a Piper Jaffray analysis, in the most recent quarter, Coach grew its follower count by almost 50%. It also doubled the average number of comments per photo and grew its average number of “likes” by 81%.
The bag that was custom made by Selena Gomez herself sold out worldwide the day after it was launched and Coach’s stock prices rose up by 2%. It’s no wonder that the luxury brand decided to produce bags and clothes this time around in hopes of similar success. Selena Gomez who rose to fame through her Disney Channel show Wizards Of Waverly Place is among the most well-known singers in her age group.
With hits like “Come and Get It”, “Good For You”, “Same Old Love” and “Hands To Myself” the singer has made a name for herself worldwide. She is also known as one of the most agreeable people amongst her peers and colleagues and her relationship with her fans is the driving force behind her success. Gomez also executive produced the hit Netflix series “13 Reasons Why” and is appearing in several upcoming features.

She has worked in Woody Allen’s upcoming film A Rainy Day in New York, alongside Elle Fanning and Timothee Chalamet. She will also voice one of the animal characters in the fantasy comedy The Voyage of Doctor Do little which stars talents like Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland, Antonio Banderas and John Cena. The star will also be seen in the ensemble zombie flick The Dead Don’t Die with Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton.
With new music and films coming, it’s very unlikely that Gomez’s star (and status as a social media queen) is going to dim anytime soon.
