Shah Rukh Khan Reveals Son Aryan Khan’s Netflix Directorial Debut

Shah Rukh Khan shares excitement as Aryan Khan steps into filmmaking with a Netflix series, set for 2025 release.

Netflix is collaborating with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment on an untitled series that will mark the directorial debut of his son, Aryan Khan. The project was announced at Netflix’s International Showcase on Monday.

Set in the world of the Indian film industry, the series promises an audacious and entertaining journey, following the adventures of a charming and ambitious outsider navigating the glamorous yet challenging landscape of Bollywood. Combining a high-stakes narrative with self-aware humor, the series will feature blockbuster cameos and larger-than-life characters, offering a bold and tongue-in-cheek portrayal of Indian cinema.

“We’re thrilled to present this new series with Netflix that offers a fresh perspective on the cinematic world and the journey of an outsider,” said Shah Rukh Khan. “It’s a unique story brought to life by Aryan, supported by passionate minds and the team at Red Chillies Entertainment. This one’s all about heart, hustle, and pure entertainment.”

Scheduled for release in 2025, the series marks the sixth collaboration between Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment, following hits like Darlings, Bhakshak, Class of ’83, Betaal, and Bard of Blood.

Monika Shergill, VP of Content for Netflix India, expressed excitement about the partnership: “Aryan Khan brings a bold and dynamic vision to his directorial debut. This project reflects our shared passion for fresh voices and quality storytelling, and we’re eager for our members to experience it.”

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, emphasized the global appeal of non-English content, highlighting its increasing popularity even in traditionally local-focused markets like the U.S., where non-English titles accounted for about 13% of viewing hours in 2022.

In addition to Aryan Khan’s series, Netflix unveiled other Asian titles during the event, including Physical 100: Asia (Korea), Bullet Train Explosion (Japan), All the Love You Wish For (Korea), Last Samurai Standing (Japan), Revelations (Korea), and When Life Gives You Tangerines (Korea).
