Shaheen Shah Afridi had an argument with coach Muhammad Yousuf during Pakistan’s tour to England just a few days before the T20 World Cup 2024.
As per the reports, Shaheen Shah Afridi stopped Muhammad Yousuf from instructing him during a practice session. Shaheen got furious after being called out for repeatedly bowling no-balls.
“Shaheen said to Mohammad Yousaf to let him do what he was doing and he ]Yousuf] should mind his own business,” said a source adding that Yousuf responded to Shaheen that he was a coach and doing his job.
Several media resources confirmed the incident and reported that the argument happened in the moment of heat. Later on, Wahab Riaz reprimanded Shaheen Shah Afridi and the young bowler accepted his mistake and later apologized.
“This was nothing more than routine case of heat-of-the-moment, so the chapter was closed there and then,” said the source when asked why it wasn’t reported to the PCB.
The reports submitted by coaches pointed out the inappropriate behavior of Shaheen Shah Afridi with coaches and management staff in the recent tours. “See, when you are on a tour for months, these minor heated arguments happen, these are routine matters, there was nothing big as far as I know which required any strict action against anyone,” a source close to team’s dug-out told this correspondent.
