Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi are expecting their first child. The news was released following the speculations of giving him rest in the Test series against Bangladesh.
While talking to the media, Coach Jason Gillispie said, “Shaheen can miss Bangaladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then.”
Pakistan’s fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, and Ansha Shahid, the daughter of former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi had their wedding last year in September. The couple’s nikah, or marriage contract, was formalized earlier in the year, with Maulana Abdul Sattar officiating the ceremony at Zakaria Mosque in February.
The pre-wedding celebrations included a mehndi event held at Afridi’s residence, attended by close friends and relatives. The groom, Shaheen Afridi, actively participated in the festivities along with his family.
A reception followed the nikah, and it boasted a star-studded guest list, with cricketers such as Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and legendary squash player Jahangir Khan in attendance. Notable figures like Asim Bajwa, the former director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations, and Wasim Khan, the General Manager of the International Cricket Council, also graced the occasion.

Lately, Shaheen Shah Afridi has been in the limelight after reports of him misbehaving with the coaching staff and management surfaced in the media. According to the sources, the player misbehaved with coach Muhammad Yousuf during Pakistan’s tour to England, ahead of T20 World Cup 2024.
He was also in the news over the captaincy saga. Shaheen Shah Afridi shared a cryptic post on social media, supposedly the outburst of his anger after being removed from captaincy.
