Shahid Afridi gives important advice to Shaheen Shah Afridi

His statements came following a recent change in the leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Team. PCB has reinstated Babar Azam as the skipper in the white-ball format.

Former cricketer Shahid Afridi gives a piece of important advice to Shaheen Shah Afridi after being removed from captaincy.

While talking to the media Shahid Afridi said, he wants Shaheen Shah Afridi to focus on his cricket. He lamented the way how the captains are removed in the Pakistan Cricket Team. He recalled his removal and lamented the removal of his son-in-law Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“I want Shaheen to focus on his own cricket,” Afridi said in a statement, adding that the left-arm pacer didn’t heed his advice against accepting captaincy of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars.

“I always tried to keep Shaheen away from captaincy,” Afridi added, further noting that many former captains, including himself, didn’t see a good end — to their role as skippers.

His statements came following a recent change in the leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Team. PCB has reinstated Babar Azam as the skipper in the white-ball format. PCB called the change in the leadership a strategic move made keeping in mind the well-being of the players and longevity of the players, especially fast bowlers.

Earlier Shahid Afridi, the former all-rounder, had expressed astonishment at Babar Azam’s appointment as Pakistan’s T20I captain, replacing Shaheen Afridi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Babar Azam’s leadership in white-ball cricket, including ODIs and T20Is, following a unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee.

Shaheen Afridi, who is Shahid Afridi’s son-in-law, lost the T20I captaincy after leading Pakistan in just one series against New Zealand earlier this year, which Pakistan lost. Moreover, Shaheen’s team in the recent Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars, finished at the bottom of the table.

Shahid Afridi expressed surprise at the decision made by the experienced cricketers on the selection committee. He suggested that if a leadership change was necessary, Mohammad Rizwan would have been a better choice, in his opinion.
