Shahid Afridi, Muhammad Hafeez joining PTI to contest elections?

Both the cricketers had expressed concern about the current political chaos in the country on their respective Twitter accounts. Speculations were also rife that both the cricketers are expected to enter politics and that they would be fighting from the PTI side.

Former cricketers Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Hafeez have denied reports of contesting the next possible general election from the platform of PTI.

Both the cricketers had expressed concern about the current political chaos in the country on their respective Twitter accounts. Muhammad Hafeez had openly shown his support for PM Imran Khan during the No-Confidence Motion. The cricketer said that despite having several differences with PM Imran Khan, he stands with him on this occasion.

On the other hand, Shahid Afridi expressed his frustration over the current political turmoil in Pakistan. The cricketer seemed to be agitated with the steps of the opposition to topple the sitting government of PTI. Afridi said that every elected government has the right to complete its five-year tenure. The cricketer added that it will take years to rectify and clean the entire political system. Social media users hinted that the cricketer is supporting PM Imran Khan.

Shahid Afridi’s strong stance

“It has been 75 years since the establishment of Pakistan. Please allow one elected government to fulfill its constitutional term because every elected government has the right to fulfill its constitutional term. The evils of 5 years will be over,” said Shahid Afridi in a tweet.

Once again during a media interaction, he denied reports of entering politics but insisted upon his stance that every government shall be given 5 years to complete its terms and then let the people decide based on performance. Regarding the rule of law, he said that the law should be equal for both the poor and rich. The justice system of Pakistan stands at 130th number the global ranking. The institutions must review where Pakistan stands in the delivery of justice.

While Shahid Afridi has denied the news of joining politics and PTI himself, Muhammad Hafeez is yet to react to the speculations.
