According to a media report, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif held a secret meeting with estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen. Sources informed that the two leaders met a few days ago to discuss the fate of the PTI government.
Important to note, there were already reports that Shehbaz Sharif contacted Jahangir Tareen and the two were expected to meet. As per the latest details, it appears that the two leaders held their meeting discreetly.
When the media contacted Jahangir Tareen, he neither confirmed the meeting nor denied it. However, he reiterated that as a politician, he believes in interaction with other politicians.
Moreover, Jahangir Tareen said that his group of estranged PTI MNAs and MPAs expressed their displeasure at the economic condition of Pakistan. The MPAs said they cannot ignore the worries of the public any longer. To clarify, earlier this week, the government once again jacked up the petrol prices, adding to the public’s financial burdens.

Jahangir Tareen did not reveal any details on the much-hyped no-trust move against PM Khan. However, he said that his MPs, who are 30 in number, gave him the mandate to make any political decision.
While details of Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with Jahangir Khan Tareen remain secret, PML-N sources privy to the matter revealed that the meeting lasted for multiple hours and Shehbaz Sharif also offered to accommodate the PTI leader in the next setup.
JKT Group: Opposition’s last hope?
This is a rather important development as the Opposition is currently gearing up for an intense political battle against the government. The Opposition, PML-N, PPP, and PDM decided to oust Imran Khan by moving a no-trust motion against him. For this, the Opposition has been trying to bring the Jahangir Tareen Group and the government alliances on its side.

The PML-N recently reached out to the government alliance PML-Q for support in the no-trust move. However, that was a failure as PML-Q’s Moonis Elahi publicly announced that the party will not abandon the government.

Similarly, the government ally in Sindh, MQM-P, also rejected the Opposition’s no trust plan. As per sources, MQM-P made it clear to Shehbaz Sharif that they will not part ways with the ruling PTI.
After rejection from the government alliances, it appears that the Opposition is seriously banking on the JKT group, which has yet to reveal the final stance on the no-trust plan.
