Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Saudi Arabia with his delegation today. Sharif has embarked on his official visit to Saudi Arabia with a high-level delegation.
The delegation comprises Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, and federal ministers including Ishaq Dar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Atta Tarar, and Ahad Cheema. It also includes members from the finance ministry.
The visit will continue till April 8th, 2024. This visit marks his first official visit after he assumed the office. The delegation departed from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. Upon reaching Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will perform Umrah.
The delegation will also hold official meetings with Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest will be discussed, including investment opportunities. The delegation is expected to stay in Madinah overnight before beginning their official visit.
The Foreign Office on Friday issued a notice regarding the visit of Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia. After performing Umrah, the PM will offer prayers at Masjid-e-Nabwi.

Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Shehbaz Sharif are expected to discuss regional politics and the latest developments. FO in its statement emphasized the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. “The leadership of both countries is committed to beneficial economic and investment relations,” the Foreign Office spokesman added.

Sources also suggest that Saudi Arabis are also planning the $ 1 billion investment in the Reko Diq project. The detailed schedule for PM Shehbaz’s visit, along with accompanying federal ministers and top officials, will be finalized today. Before departing, the Prime Minister will hold consultations with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.
Shehbaz Sharif took the oath in March last month. Shehbaz Sharif had emerged as the prime ministerial candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), replacing his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. The decision came after a series of last-minute developments within the party, leading to speculation and anticipation among political observers and the public alike.
