Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed hits back at the Opposition’s criticism of the government and its handling of Afghan evacuation. While addressing a press conference, Sheikh Rasheed accused the Opposition, especially Maulana Fazlur Rehman, of exhibiting irresponsibility and not understanding the international political environment.
Recently, Pakistan announced that hotels will host the evacuees from Afghanistan. So far, the media has identified 148 hotels to accommodate evacuees from Afghanistan. To this development, the Opposition claimed the government is facilitating the refugees at the expense of the public.
However, Sheikh Rasheed clarified and said Pakistan is only providing transit facilities. Pakistan has not given the status of refugee to a single person from Afghanistan. Similarly, he said the hotel accommodations being provided to evacuees awaiting transit were also not free of cost.
