Shireen Mazari clarifies difference between conspiracy & interference

She said it was a foreign conspiracy owing to the harsh words used in the cable. Dr. Mazari then revealed the words used by the US Diplomat Donald Lu who is believed to have been responsible for the threatening cable.

Former Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari has revealed the words from the much controversial foreign cable threatening the former prime minister. Important to note, her statements come after the DG ISPR’s shocking press conference on Thursday.

During the hard-hitting press conference, DG ISPR confirmed that the cable carried undiplomatic language equal to interference. However, he also said that the word “conspiracy” was not used in the NSC meeting.

Regarding this, Dr. Shireen Mazari, who is also an expert on Defense and Security, clarified the difference between “conspiracy” and “interference” while talking to a private media channel.

Dr. Shireen Mazari said the distinction given between “conspiracy” and “interference” is incorrect. She said NSC meeting was a formal meeting where the participants definitely discussed the words used in the cable, and agreed on a regime change and conspiracy.

Dr. Shireen Mazari quotes Donald Lu

She said they [the PTI camp] termed it a foreign conspiracy owing to the harsh words used in the cable. Dr. Mazari then revealed the words used by the US Diplomat Donald Lu who is believed to have been responsible for the threatening cable.

“He said if the vote of no-confidence is not successful and if Imran Khan remains as the prime minister and I quote Donald Lu’s words,’then PM Imran Khan will be isolated from the US and we will take up the issue head-on’,” Dr. Shireen Mazari said.

“Now isn’t that a conspiracy?” Dr. Shireen Mazari questioned. She then further quoted Donald Lu as saying that Pakistan will be forgiven if the no-confidence motion is successful.

According to Dr. Shireen Mazari, when a conspiracy is already in the works, then conspirators boldly make threats. Moreover, she also stated that the US falsely accused Imran Khan of taking the decision himself of going to Russia. In this regard, she appreciated DG ISPR’s clarification that the government took the military on board regarding Imran Khan’s visit to Russia.
