Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal under fire after Pakistan’s defeat

Former wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal commented on his tweet and asked him not to speak such blatant truths.

Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal posted a cryptic tweet following the defeat of Pakistan in the Asia Cup final 2022 final against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

In a cryptic tweet, he targeted the selection of players for the Asia Cup. His tweet deemed the selection of players was not merit-based but on personal likes and dislikes. “When will we come out from friendship, liking & disliking culture. Allah always helps the honest,” said Shoaib Malik in a tweet.

Former wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal commented on his tweet and asked him not to speak such blatant truths.

Both senior players received flak on social media for thrashing the inexperienced and young Pakistan team instead of supporting them.

Some reminded the cricket stats of Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal. Others asked the Pakistani team players to not focus on agendas and learn from their mistakes.

Young player Shadab Khan came forward and accepted the responsibility for the defeat. Shadab Khan had dropped a crucial catch in the match.

“Catches win matches. Sorry, I take responsibility for this loss. I let my team down. Positives for the team, @iNaseemShah, @HarisRauf14, @mnawaz94, and the entire bowling attack was great. @iMRizwanPak fought hard. The entire team tried their best. Congratulations to Sri Lanka,” said Shadab Khan in a tweet.

Whereas Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is out from the team due to a knee injury, also supported the team. “Heads up, my Champions! You gave your best, and don’t let any agendas tell you otherwise. We will grow from this and make sure to bounce back the way we usually do. Congrats Srilanka. You earned it,” said Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Fans are a bit upset; demands such crucial changes in the team ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup next month. They believe Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah be replaced with form players.
